PEOPLE ARE COLOURS TO ME

I've always experienced people differently.

Before words are spoken, before I know their story, I notice the feeling they leave behind. Some people feel warm and expansive, others gentle and quiet. Some arrive like sunshine, while others carry a heaviness I can't quite explain.

For many years, I thought everyone experienced the world this way.

As I've grown, I've learnt that my nervous system is constantly gathering information. Sometimes it mistakes unfamiliarity for danger, sounding an alarm when there isn't one. I've learnt not to confuse that protective response with intuition.

Real danger feels entirely different.

This painting is about learning the difference.

It reminds me that people aren't good or bad, safe or unsafe. They are colours, textures and energy, each bringing something unique to the canvas of our lives. Some colours soothe us. Some challenge us. Some become lifelong favourites.

Like any painting, no single colour tells the whole story.

This piece is a gentle reminder to stay curious, to look beyond first impressions, and to allow people the space to reveal who they truly are. Oh and avoid real danger!
