Artist | Founder of Held By The Wild & Mantra & Moss | Emergency Nurse

I'm Eloise, although most people call me Ellie.

By day, I'm an Emergency Nurse, caring for people during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. Over the years, I've also worked in paediatrics, as a location nurse in the film industry, and as a Nurse Immuniser. Alongside nursing, I founded Mantra & Moss, where I explore nervous system regulation, neurodiversity and our deep connection with nature through workshops, writing and education.

But when life becomes loud, you'll usually find me in my studio.

Held By The Wild was born from the same place that inspired Mantra & Moss: a belief that nature has an extraordinary ability to steady us. Painting is how I slow down, process the world and make sense of life's beautiful, messy moments. It is less about creating perfect artwork and more about capturing feeling.

Much of my inspiration comes from the Australian landscape, wildflowers, old cottages, birds, hidden doorways and the tiny details many people walk past. Every piece I create includes a small hidden door or window, a quiet reminder that there is always another perspective, another possibility, another path forward.

Receiving an ADHD and ASD diagnosis later in life helped me understand why creativity has always been essential to my wellbeing. Art became more than a hobby. It became a way to regulate my nervous system, honour memories, process grief, celebrate joy and reconnect with myself.

Whether I'm caring for patients in the Emergency Department, teaching through Mantra & Moss or creating in my studio, the thread that connects everything I do is the same.

Helping people feel seen.

My hope is that when one of my pieces finds its way into your home, it offers more than colour on a wall. I hope it brings a sense of calm, sparks conversation, evokes memories and reminds you to pause, breathe and notice the beauty that still exists in ordinary moments.

Thank you for being here.

I'm so glad you found your way to Held By The Wild.
